| I'll be the first to admit that the past couple of months I went on a slight Michigan music binge, discovering and featuring some incredible acts from all across the great state just over an hour north of my hometown of Fort Wayne, IN. It seemed like the minute I discovered a new band, I was immediately finding out about something else new and enjoyable. It seems that during the past month or so, my musical mind has veered further East to the unofficial home of current indie music – New York City. After falling in love with the incredible sounds of Teletextile during the past few months, I managed to find myself hooked on the wonderful and creative sounds of fellow Brooklyn musicians Conveyor. Upon my very first listen of the new 7″ single "Mukraker" from Conveyor, I was mesmerized and somewhat shocked at how beautiful this new song is. Taking a slight step away from their more upbeat songs that can be found on previous releases, such as their spectacular Sun Ray EP, Conveyor seems to put a great focus and attention on the various individual elements of the song and its cumulative result of congruent sound in the new single "Mukraker." With a sound that seems to effortlessly combine folk-rock song structure with a variety of indie rock instrumental ideas, "Mukraker" is a beautiful song that manages to satisfy all of the senses. Starting off in a very mellow and relaxed fashion, "Mukraker" emerges from its shell and opens up to your ears in the most enjoyable way possible. The delicate and intricate layers of acoustic instruments and vocals seem to welcome the occasional electronic influence, mixing the musical elements together to create a soothing and comforting track that is sure to calm and satisfy even the most distraught and stressed-out person. Conveyor do an amazing job of creating a universal sound that can appeal to the masses, and this can easily be demonstrated in their newest single "Mukraker," as well as on their previous releases. I can't help but get lost in their beautiful sound every time I listen to "Mukraker," as the song seems to have gracefully floated from my speakers and set-up permanent residence in the deepest nook and cranny in my sonic mind. Listen to the amazing new song from Conveyor above, where you can also download it for free via their BandCamp widget. Also, check out the video below of Conveyor performing "Mukraker" as a special intimate performance for BreakThruRadio. While there is not an official release date set for the Conveyor – "Mukraker" split 7″ with ILLUMNTR, stay tuned to StereoPirate.com this week as I will be posting the B-Side to the single from ILLUMNTR as well as an announcement about my first contest! More details coming later this week, but until then be sure to stay up to date with Conveyor via their links below. | |||
