The Various Types Of Conveyors Available Today | Matt Heart

Posted by Admin - April 22nd, 2012

When many of us think of conveyors, we typically think of standard conveyor belts. Of course, these are a hugely important type of conveyor, but there are also lots of other kinds that we should also be aware of.

For example, there are incline conveyor belts available that are especially tailored to convey goods from one floor to another. These are often used in buildings which have lots of extra floors built in, so are often called mezzanine conveyors.

A popular alternative to the traditional conveyor belt is the roller conveyor, which makes use of metal rollers to convey goods. One of the benefits of these is that they do not require power to operate as the rollers themselves provide the momentum.

There are also slat conveyors available, and while these cannot handle inclines and declines in the way traditional conveyor belts can, they are very useful if you are moving goods on a single level and they are popular in the food industry.

Overhead conveyors are also popular for use within the food industry, with chain conveyors being just one example of this type. These can be particularly useful in situations where floor space is in short supply. They can also deal with inclines and there are different types of overhead conveyor to meet a range of different needs.

You can also find vehicle loader / unloader conveyors, which range from gravity roller belts to powered conveyors. There are also complete conveyor systems that can make use of a selection of different methods of conveyance according to a business's individual needs, showing the extent of just what conveyance tools are actually able to do.

Plus of course, there are automated conveyors, these having built in automatic selectors that make the sorting of items fast and simple.

As you can see the different types of conveyors are many and so it may well be the case that you need to ask an expert in the field about which would be better for your individual circumstances.
