Apr 27 This week we hosted another factory acceptance test (FAT) for The Jelly Belly Candy Company of Fairfield, California. Our Systems Integrator, Sierra Conveyor Co., Inc, designed an upgrade to the Jelly Belly case conveyor system that delivers product to their robotic case palletizers. The new system uses a high speed lane divider prior to the spiral conveyor to automatically meter cases to one of the dual spiral's lanes. This will help to balance the product flow to the three palletizers, speeding up their packaging lines. The new spiral conveyor will also save floor space by replacing conventional incline conveyors. When the incline belts were worn, cases would often slide backwards. With the experienced Ryson engineering team, the spiral's incline angle and built-in friction surface was designed to ensure the correct orientation and smooth transportation of the Jelly Belly cases through their 10 foot elevation change. The spiral will also be prominent on the Jelly Belly factory tour, so your can see it run if you decide to visit. Stay tuned on more details and video on this project once the line is installed. Model # BCW 44/55 x 10-6W-3R-12D-G-SS304 General Description:This washer is fabricated out of 304 Stainless Steel. There are two (2) individual conveyors that have separate conveyor drives. The conveyor speeds are 2 to 12 FPM. The left conveyor is 44″W & the right conveyor is 55″W. The stainless 1″ x 1″ flat wire belts are rated for 25 # S/F. The load capacity is rated at 6700 pounds for both conveyors. There is a 24″L load end and a 24″L unload end. The heated wash is 6′ long, a 4′ long transition, 3′ long heated rinse section, and a 12′ long heated dry off section. Both wash and rinse sections are heated with a Maxon burner which fires into an immersion tube. The gas fired dry off section is rated for 500-F and is heated by a Maxon "Ovenpak" burner. This washer has two 20 HP vertical gusher pumps in the wash section and one 20 HP vertical gusher pump in the rinse section. A "Triple Bag" filter system is mounted on the side. Controls: An Allen Bradley SLC 504 programmable logic controller controls all functions of this washer. There are two (2) Omron digital temperature controllers that control temperature for the wash and rinse cycles.
