Has this conveyor belt situation ever happened to you?

You are in line at the store, unloading your items onto the conveyor belt. You have not finished. There is more to unload. The person behind you puts the divider down and begins unloading their things. In effect, this leaves you with less and less room to finish unloading, as the conveyor moves everything forward.

No. But sometimes they don't provide enough of those divider thingies so you have to wait until another is available to separate your stuff from another person's. I just stack them if there's not much room. If there are wine or other bottles, sometimes the thing starts up with a jerk and topples the bottles, so I'm apt to lay them on their sides for safety.

All the time. And conversely, most people in front of me are the one's who put down the divider so I can start unloading my cart.

No, I put my things onto the belt from the end (where the space to put my basket is) so there isn't space for anyone to start unloading until I am finished. I've never seen anything like the scenario described here.

we go together to the store, which makes it easy to effectively block most encroachment
